Advanced Simulation Facilitator Course
The Advanced Simulation Facilitator Course builds upon foundational concepts introduced in the Beginning Facilitator Course. Participants will practice debriefing skills and explore strategies for managing difficult scenarios and learners. Additional topics include resources for virtual and remote simulation learning and opportunities for professional development.
This hybrid course includes an online component and a one-day in-person session and is best suited for instructors with some basic formal training in simulation education.

This course is designed to train interested individuals to function as Simulation Operations Specialists in healthcare education facilities. This course provides education about simulation as a teaching modality; the role of a Simulation Operations Specialist; and hands-on training with high-fidelity manikins, healthcare equipment, and moulage.
Topics that will be covered include:
SOS roles and responsibilities
Review of healthcare equipment
Manikin care and feeding
Team communication
Moulage (beginner and advanced)
Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) certification: how to study and succeed!

Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) Study Group Session 6
The Utah Simulation Coalition is offering free, virtual, monthly sessions led by CHSE-certified educators to help you prepare for the CHSE exam.

Utah Simulation Coalition 2025 Annual Fall Conference
The Fall Conference is held yearly to provide a wonderful learning opportunity provided by simulation experts in the community. The Fall Conference is open to all simulationists, including simulation facilitators and educators, simulation operations specialists, and staff. Topics are centered around Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice.
The theme for this year’s conference is United Through Simulation: Building our Utah Community.
Our keynote speaker will be Dominic Slauson.
Dominic is a Generative AI Specialist at the University of California Irvine. Dominic has extensive experience in the educational field, having held roles in faculty development, instructional design, and educational technology. From 2019 to 2024, Dominic served as Instructional Technologist for the OpenRN Project - a $2.5 million dollar grant from the U.S. Department of Education to develop OER nursing textbooks and virtual simulations. Through this work, Dominic leveraged generative artificial intelligence to create rich and engaging simulations that allow learners to apply clinical judgement in exciting new ways. In 2022, Dominic founded Codaptive Labs, a company dedicated to providing training and resources to ensure the responsible and innovative implementation of generative artificial intelligence in education settings. In his work, Dominic places emphasis on thoughtfully integrating AI technologies to enhance teaching and learning while prioritizing ethical considerations and access for all learners.
The conference will also include local presenters, simulation-based vendors, contact hours, raffles, and prizes. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
